Private Clinics Report

A new report by the Ontario Health Coalition in collaboration with the Canadian Health Coalition and provincial Health Coalitions across the country is revealing the results from surveys of hundreds of Ontario patients and private health care clinics across Canada. The report looks at the impact of user fees and extra-billing of patients and the implications for public Medicare in Canada.

Major legal challenges to public Medicare in Canada have come to a head with hundreds of thousands of patients in Quebec having taken action at federal court, private clinics bringing a charter challenge in British Columbia and the government of Saskatchewan passing legislation that contravenes the Canada Health Act. This new report looks at the impact of health care privatization across Canada on patients when they try to access needed health care services. Click here to read the report.
